The 36-year-old hip-hop star, known for his music, fashion ventures, and being Rihanna’s longtime partner, has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. His lawyer maintains that Rocky is innocent and committed no crime.

The incident in question dates back to November 6, 2021, in Hollywood. Terell Ephron, a childhood friend of Rocky, testified that their relationship had soured before the alleged altercation. Ephron claims Rocky fired at him, with bullets grazing his knuckles. A judge ruled in 2023 that there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold is keeping things tight in the courtroom. He’s limiting how long attorneys can question jurors and reminding them to remain impartial, saying, “Regardless of who a defendant is, whether they’re the richest person in the world or the poorest person, everybody is to be treated the same.”
