Atlanta’s iconic strip club, Magic City, is getting the documentary treatment. Starz has officially picked up the highly anticipated docuseries Magic City: An American Fantasy. Check out what we know about the upcoming series inside.
What We Know So Far
According to Deadline, the five-part docuseries is set to debut this summer, offering an in-depth look at the club’s massive influence on hip-hop and Black culture. The documentary promises to take viewers beyond the flashing lights and dollar bills, uncovering the deeper story behind Magic City’s rise to legendary status. Starz’s president of original programming, Kathryn Busby, called the project a “riveting behind-the-curtain look at one of the most unique places in Black culture.”
Who’s Behind The Anticipated Series
Created by Cole Brown, the series boasts an all-star lineup of executive producers, including music icons Drake and Jermaine Dupri. As one of Atlanta’s most influential producers and a longtime patron of the club, Dupri understands the impact Magic City has had on music, nightlife, and pop culture.
“It’s the one place where celebrities, hustlers, politicians, and Atlanta locals all come together,” Dupri said in a statement to AJC. “I’ve watched it evolve over the years from a local joint to an internationally recognized spot. It’s about time we tell this story the right way.”
For decades, Magic City has been more than just a strip club. It has been a proving ground for artists, a trendsetting hub for rap music, and a symbol of Atlanta’s ever-evolving entertainment scene. Rappers like Future, Migos, and Jeezy have all credited the club for breaking records and shaping careers.
What To Expect
With Starz bringing Magic City: An American Fantasy to life, fans can expect a raw, unfiltered look at the club’s journey from a small Atlanta hotspot to a global cultural phenomenon. As the premiere date approaches, Magic City’s legacy is about to shine brighter than ever.
