Blxst is having a moment. Fresh off his triumphant BET Awards weekend, the rising star is embracing a new era in both style and sound. “I’m in my rockstar phase,” he declares with a grin, rocking an outfit that speaks volumes about his transformation. But there’s more to Blxst than just a wardrobe change; this phase is a testament to his growth as an artist.
Known for his hands-on approach, Blxst isn’t just a performer—he’s a self-made engineer. Growing up without the resources or connections in the music industry, I had to teach myself he says. One highlight of Blxst’s recent success is his collaboration with Offset. “Offset hit me up on Instagram, asking for a verse,” Blxst reveals. Initially intended for Offset’s album, the track found a home on Blxst’s latest project instead. This kind of serendipity speaks to the fluid nature of his career, where plans shift but the music remains compelling.
Blxst is particularly excited about his current project with Anderson .Paak, an artist he considers a blueprint for his own career. “Anderson is the type of artist I’ve modeled myself after,” he admits. Taking a year off to perfect this album, Blxst is now gearing up for a tour by year’s end.
His debut album, “I’ll Always Come Find You,” holds personal significance. “It’s a message to myself,” Blxst explains. It’s a promise and a reminder of the perseverance that’s gotten him this far. As he continues to evolve, one thing is clear: Blxst is here to stay, navigating the industry on his own terms and bridging the gap between the old school and the new with style and substance.
