Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as Daniel Hernández, just can’t seem to stay out of trouble, he is back on the scene in New York with even more antics. Just this week, he found himself behind bars again after showing up an hour late to court, allegedly testing positive for meth, and sneaking off to Vegas – because of course he did. Federal Judge Paul Engelmayer was not impressed, accusing Tekashi of having a “full spectrum disregard for the law.” The judge wasn’t holding back, basically treating Tekashi’s supervised release like it was his personal list of “things I’m gonna ignore.”
But Tekashi wasn’t ready to go down without a little bit of a plea. “I’m not a bad person,” he told the court, explaining that he’d just flown into New York from Florida the night before. Unfortunately, the court didn’t seem to buy his “good guy” story.
This year started off rough when he got hit with domestic violence charges down in the Dominican Republic, where he was cooling off in a Santo Domingo jail, waiting for a judge to decide if he’d be released or stay locked up. Just another chapter in the rapper’s legendary book of legal woes.
Let’s break it down. This guy’s rap sheet is basically its own mixtape at this point:
•2015: Pleaded guilty to using a child in a sexual performance.
•2018: Got scooped up on racketeering, weapons, and drug charges.
•2019: Took things up a notch, pleading guilty to nine charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery. He was staring down a possible 47 years in prison before the court cut him a deal for, well… let’s call it “snitching,” and handed him just two years instead.
•2020: The pandemic hit, and thanks to COVID-19 and his asthma, he got an early ticket out of jail.
For now, looks like 6ix9ine’s wild ride is taking a two-week detour behind bars. Let’s see how long it takes for him to make his next appearance – because if there were frequent flyer miles for jail visits, this guy would be a platinum member.
