If there’s one thing Miami knows how to do, it’s throw a music festival that brings out everybody! And this past weekend, Jazz in the Gardens proved once again why it’s one of the biggest Black music festivals in the country.

The 18th annual event was nothing short of legendary, blending smooth jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and dancehall to create the ultimate musical experience at Hard Rock Stadium. Whether you came for the soulful classics or the high-energy performances, there was something for everyone in the family.

The festival pulled out all the stops with an A-list lineup that had fans vibing from start to finish. Lauryn Hill, New Edition, Toni Braxton, and Coco Jones delivered show-stopping sets, while YG Marley gave a reggae touch that had the crowd feeling irie. But it didn’t stop there—DJ Nasty and DJ Cassidy turned up the heat with sets that brought out hip-hop and R&B royalty.

Festivalgoers went wild when Fat Joe and Remy Ma hit the stage, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Young Joc, Beenie Man, and Mýa reunited for the performance we’ve all been waiting for! Let’s be real—who wasn’trapping along when “Lean Back” and “It’s Goin’ Down” dropped?

One of the festival’s most unforgettable moments came when Doechii, fresh off her Grammy win for Alligator Bites Never Heal, linked up with Lauryn Hill for a powerful, torch-passing performance. Following the emotional set, Doechii took to social media to reflect on the experience, writing, “Thank you Miss Lauryn Hill. Thank you. My heart is so full. She is my hero. This is the greatest honor hip hop could give me. Praise God.”

She continued, “My entire body is vibrating with joy right now. I’ll never forget this day! EVER!” The “Denial Is a River” rapper added, “I never been so nervous in my life 😭 she is a QUEEN.”

Doechii, who also performed at the Best New Artist showcase at the Grammys, has been on an unstoppable rise, recently dropping two new singles, “Nosebleeds” and “Anxiety”, keeping her momentum strong post-Music’s Biggest Night.

Aside from the headliners, Jazz in the Gardens had local food vendors, artists, and cultural showcases that made it a full-on experience. The festival isn’t just about the music—it’s an economic powerhouse, bringing in millions to Miami Gardens while giving back to the community through schools, churches, and non-profits.

From its humble beginnings in a parking lot to becoming a must-attend event, Jazz in the Gardens continues to elevate Black music and culture. And with another unforgettable year in the books, one thing’s for sure—we already can’t wait for next year!
