Chicago-born comedian Just Nesh has been named this week’s Hustler of the Week on The Morning Hustle! Known for her sharp wit and unfiltered humor, Just Nesh sat down with the team to discuss her latest comedy special and the road she’s taken to success.

Before making her mark in stand-up, Just Nesh worked as a social worker. However, she soon realized that to truly make it, she had to take a leap of faith and bet on herself. That decision paid off, as she climbed the ranks of Chicago’s comedy scene and beyond, proving that persistence and hustle go a long way.

During the interview, Just Nesh spoke candidly about the comedy industry’s deep racial divides, noting that Chicago’s stand-up scene remains largely segregated, with separate spaces for Black and white comedians. Despite the challenges, she credits legendary figures like DeRay Davis, Dick Gregory, and B. Cole for guiding her through the industry.

She also addressed one of the biggest misconceptions about comedians—people expect them to be funny all the time. While she brings the laughs on stage, she admits that offstage, she’s much more lowkey. For her, comedy isn’t just about cracking jokes; it’s a craft that requires dedication and resilience.

When asked for advice for aspiring female comedians, Just Nesh encouraged them to stay on stage, keep pushing, and never let male-dominated spaces intimidate them.

Her latest comedy special is out now, showcasing her signature storytelling and raw humor. “Self Served” starring Just Nesh on amazon prime now!
