Egypt Sherrod on HGTV Success, Family & Iconic Wendy Williams Beef

When HGTV’s Egypt Sherrod stopped by The Morning Hustle, it was anything but a fluff piece. The former radio host turned real estate mogul dropped gems, got real about past feuds, and showed us all what growth looks like—from career pivots to design blueprints.
The host of HGTV’s “Married to Real Estate”, Egypt opened up about everything from smart homes and celebrity clients to the spark that launched her empire: getting fired.
“Because one day when I write a book, baby, it’s gonna be good,” Egypt teased, hinting at juicy behind-the-scenes stories. One such moment? A now-public feud with a former colleague. While Egypt wouldn’t name names, she showed compassion for the person’s current struggles. “All you can do for people like that is keep them lifted in prayer.”
Egypt recalled early career clashes in radio—literal lobby arguments at Three Park Avenue—and how hindsight helped her see the pain behind the hate.
“The hate was never really about me,” she said. “It was about the battles she was fighting internally.”
That level of self-awareness has clearly served her well. Egypt and her husband Mike Jackson now star in one of HGTV’s top-rated shows, Married to Real Estate, where they help families find and renovate their dream homes—while raising their own family in the process.
“People assume I just flipped into real estate, but I’ve been licensed since 2002,” she said in a previous interview. “The radio job ending just pushed me to take the leap full-time.”
Egypt also dished on celebrity clients, the rise of smart homes, and where design trends are headed in 2025. But perhaps the most exciting hint? She and Mike might be diving into hospitality next.
“We’ve been playing with the idea of doing boutique hotels. Something really community-focused and design-forward.”
Between her HGTV success, real estate credibility, and authentic storytelling, Egypt Sherrod is the definition of a woman who flipped the script—and the house.
