Resources & Volunteer Opportunities To Support LA Fire Victims

As wildfires continue to devastate parts of Los Angeles County, local communities are coming together to support recovery efforts. From providing essential resources to volunteering on the front lines, there are countless ways to help those impacted by the fires. On Jan. 7, an ongoing series of catastrophic wildfires began to impact the Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding regions. More specifically, communities in the Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena were hit the hardest. Since the start last week, at least 24 deaths have been reported in the Los Angeles fires as two major blazes continue to burn across the sprawling Californian city. This is a heartbreaking time for the LA community. Many people and organizations are joining forces to support with helpful resources. Some foundations are raising money. Others are collecting donations. Many LA residents are also prioritizing service by volunteering at this time. the time to volunteer.

Key Resources for Fire Victims

For those directly affected by the fires, numerous organizations offer immediate assistance:

• American Red Cross Los Angeles: Provides shelter, food, and emergency supplies to displaced families. Visit their website to find active shelters and request assistance.
• California Fire Foundation: Offers financial support to victims through its Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program, providing prepaid cards for essentials.
• Los Angeles County Fire Department: Shares real-time updates on evacuation zones, safety guidelines, and post-fire recovery resources.

Additionally, organizations like 211 LA County and FEMA are available to help connect families with long-term housing and financial aid.

How to Volunteer

Instrument replacement assistance for displaced musicians.

3. FEMA

Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in designated areas can apply for assistance with FEMA.

4. LA Urban League with New Revelation Church

The Los Angeles Urban League, in partnership with New Revelation Church, is hosting a week-long HELP Center to provide relief for the victims of the catastrophic Eaton Fire in Altadena.
