The world of co-parenting comes with its challenges—throw in some fame, a livestream, and a surprise cameo by a 9-month-old, and you’ve got a headline. In a saga that could only unfold in 2023, YouTuber and rapper DDG found himself on a livestream with Kai Cenat when he decided to give their audience an impromptu guest star: his son, Halo. Unfortunately, Halo’s mom, The Little Mermaid actress Halle Bailey, had no idea this cameo was happening and was not exactly thrilled when she found out.
It all went down during Cenat’s Twitch show, “Mafiathon 2,” where DDG brought baby Halo on-screen for a moment that quickly went viral. The baby’s cooing, adorable as it was, wasn’t enough to keep Bailey from speaking up. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she expressed her surprise—and frustration—at finding out her baby was suddenly a mini-celebrity on Cenat’s YouTube channel. “I wasn’t told or notified, and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions,” Bailey wrote, adding that as Halo’s “mother and protector,” she expected to at least get a heads-up about his virtual debut.
DDG, for his part, responded to the situation with a mix of loyalty and deflection, making it clear that, while they’re no longer together, he’s got Halle’s back. “One thing I don’t like… I don’t like when people hate on Halle,” he said, defending her as social media weighed in on their co-parenting moment.
It seems that in the age of social media, co-parenting now comes with a livestream clause. But let’s face it: Halo’s debut was a hit, and as the dust settles, Bailey and DDG can chalk this up to another “parenting in the digital age” lesson—and maybe even keep a camera schedule handy next time.
