Lil Nas X Reveals Facial Paralysis in Hospital: “I Can’t Even Laugh”
Lil Nas X Says Half His Face “Lost Control,” Is Currently Hospitalized

Lil Nas X is in the hospital—but don’t panic, he’s still cracking jokes. The chart-topping rapper behind hits like “Old Town Road” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” revealed via social media that he’s experiencing partial facial paralysis.
“This is me doing a full smile right now by the way,” he said in a video from his hospital bed. “It’s like, what the f**k? I can’t even laugh right bro.”
The 26-year-old posted clips to Instagram showing one half of his face working normally, while the other side stayed still. Captioning one of the videos, he wrote: “lost control of the right side of my face.” He kept his spirits up, zooming in on one cheek and saying, “we normal over here,” then moving to the paralyzed side and adding, “we get crazy over here.”
Despite the weird and slightly scary situation, he told fans not to worry. “Stop being sad for me! Shake ur a** for me instead!” he posted. “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
While Lil Nas X hasn’t revealed what caused the condition, it could be something like Bell’s palsy—a temporary condition that causes weakness or paralysis in facial muscles—or Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which hit Justin Bieber in 2022. Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid also dealt with Bell’s palsy in 2024 and still dropped buckets on the court.
Lil Nas X rose to fame in 2019 with “Old Town Road,” blending country and rap like no one had done before. Since then, he’s become known for his bold fashion, fearless artistry, and, apparently, his ability to joke through medical emergencies.
Here’s hoping his face makes a speedy comeback—until then, he’s still got half a smile and a full sense of humor.
