The Fumble: Jayden Daniels Vs LSU, Lakers Ownership Drama, & More

Jayden Daniels should be focused on the upcoming Washington Commanders season where he’ll be under center, but he’s now embroiled in his alma mater LSU’s drama.

Daniels sent LSU a cease-and-desist forbidding them from using his No. 5 jersey after it was turned over to sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett.

“There needs to be some level of difference and respect for the past and for history. And I do feel like at times, generations no longer have a certain level of reverence and respect for those who built what was already established. I think it would be extremely honorable for DJ Pickett to look at Jayden Daniels and be like, “Man, I really appreciate the way he laid the pathway for black quarterbacks at LSU.’ But just have a little bit more respect, even if you are still going to wear number five. I think his dismissiveness… It was almost borderline disrespectful.”

The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold again, this time by Mark Walter, who owned them for around a year. It’s already messy because Walter’s under federal investigation for his insurance business dealings, and one of the major buying parties is Josh Kushner, whose brother Jared is married to President Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

A sports owner being so few degrees of separation from the president is too close to comfort, making Rodney weary, while Samaria wonders how well the NBA is vetting potential franchise owners.

“I’m interested to learn more about the process in which Mark Walter acquired the team,” Samaria begins. “What research was done on his background? Now we know that the FBI is investigating him. Were there not rumblings? Was his rap sheet squeaky clean? Did y’all not find anything on him before y’all said, “Okay, we’re gonna sell you the team for 10 billion dollars.”
